On September 12th Adam Andrzejewski and For the Good of Illinois PAC held a press conference to herald the launch of their new website www.openthebooks.com. The website contains all of the salaries and retirement benefits for all of the public employees in the state of Illinois. This new transparency initiative will encourage politicians in Illinois to be more fiscally conscious and enable taxpayers to hold their feet to the fire.

AA had to file countless FOIA’s to gather all that information. Standing behind him are Republicans Dillard, Radogno, and Sandack, who all voted in favor of a bill that would have allowed the state to refuse him access to that information (HB1716).
That is a great point you make. While looking at information on the bill, I saw the names of Jim Durkin and Patti Bellock as sponsors as well. It would be interesting to hear how Dillard and Rodagno got themselves attached to this press conference (I didn’t see Sandack in the video).
